Dining with a side of Scenery

The Cincinnati Dinner Train features dining on four finely restored 1950’s era dining cars. Also featured, the freshly restored “Oasis Tavern” car which, up until April 2017 served on the red train of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.  Full service bars can be found in the Silver Sword and the Oasis Tavern.

The public dinner train operates every Saturday throughout the year, with the exception of January and February. Reserved seat tickets are sold in advance and will be held at check-in the day of the excursion.

The dinner train departs from the rear parking lot of the Green Sales Company located at 2172 E. Seymour Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45237.  Look for the directional signs on the telephone poles and the sandwich board street signs.  Passengers can enjoy free guarded parking in the open lot provided.

The train will depart promptly at 6:00 PM and travel to the downtown Cincinnati riverfront. Here our locomotive will reverse our route back to our boarding area. The excursion lasts a total of 3.2 hours.  Check in begins approximately 60 minutes prior to departure.  Please make your reservation at least 8 to 10 weeks in advance of desired date as most excursions sell out months in advance.  Our reservation office is open Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 2:00 pm.  Our office is closed Sundays and on holidays.

On board, we will serve four courses with choices of Prime Rib, Salmon with a Mild Hoisin Glaze or Boneless Chicken Breast sautéed in white wine sauce.  Your entree will be accompanied by appetizer, salad, vegetable, baked potato, choice of dessert, water, iced tea, and coffee.  Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten-free options available.

Almost all tables seat up to four people, with the exception of eight tables that seat just two people. Everyone’s table has its own window in either the 1947 New York Central dining car #447 or the 1946 Milwaukee Road table car #201 or the 1952 Silver Sword dining car. Large restrooms are available in the Milwaukee Road car with a unisex restroom in the Silver Sword.  The newly added 1950 Oasis Tavern bar & lounge car also features just four tables in the rear of the train for a more secluded dining experience.  A women’s restroom and a unisex restroom can also be found in this car.

We strictly enforce a business casual dress code.  Blue jeans are discouraged.  Shorts, flip flop or thong sandals, and sleeveless t-shirts are not permitted.  With that said, we strongly encourage our passengers to get into the swing of things by dressing in their best 1940’s vintage clothing.  Although not required, it sure makes it fun for everyone when couples show up looking as if they stepped out of an 1940’s LIFE magazine.

Returning again this season are the fabulous Queen City Sisters, a 1940’s Andrews sisters trio. Edy and the girls perform as you board and then sing two songs in your dining car before salads are served. Following dinner, the sisters perform on their own stage in the Oasis Tavern all the way back to our departure area. Their delightful sounds from the 1940’s and early 50’s will take you back to a much simpler time.

Ticket prices are $120.00 per person age 12 and above.  Children under the age of 12 are not permitted on board.  Prices do not include sales tax, gratuity, or purchases from the bar car.   If traditional Pullman railroad dining with a fellow traveling couple is not your bag, upgrade to a private table by purchasing the entire table.  Our servers and conductors look forward to serving you as we all step back into the nostalgic and less complex times of the late 1940’s. There’s nothing like dining on white table clothed tables while watching the scenery slowly go by, as your dining car gently meanders down the track.

Are you celebrating a special event, birthday, or anniversary?

Call HJ Benken Florist at 513-891-1040 and make arrangements for a centerpiece to be delivered right to your dinner train table prior to departure.  Orders can be taken for delivery until Noon on Fridays for Saturday evening delivery.  Make your evening on board the Cincinnati Dinner Train extra special with flowers!  Please do not call them to purchase dinner train tickets.

Unique Souvenirs are also available on board to commemorate your trip!

Finally, we are most proud of our on board photographers Jimmy Olsen and Amelia Earhart*.  On loan from the Daily Planet, Jimmy and Amelia will take a quality photograph of your party as you board the dining cars.  Your 4″ x 6″ framed photo will be brought to your table for viewing.  Photos can be purchased for $10.00 each.  Just ask Jimmy if you’d like additional photos printed or even a special photo taken.  He can accommodate your wishes.  (*based upon availability)

Be aware that with the closure of the Norwood Lateral this Spring, you may need to plan an alternate route to get to the Dinner Train before departure at 6PM. We cannot hold the train for late arrivals due to rail line timetables. Thanks!
